Curly leaf pondweed is an acquatic plant that floats at the top of water surfaces, forming large mats that can eventually shade out other plant life in the same body of water. An invasive plant species, curly leaf pondweed grows in lakes, rivers and moderately flowing waters. It can spread thoughout bodies of water by seeds, rhizomes, turions, and plant pieces that break off and float on water currents. It can also spread overland to new waters by clinging to watercraft, trailers, and equipment.
