A vegetative treatment area (VTA) is an area of perennial vegetation where runoff from a feedlot or barnyard gets treated. The runoff settles in the VTA, separates into solids and liquids, and is filtered for sediment and nutrients. There are many types of VTA's, including infiltration basins, level, sloped, and dual.
