Recognizing a growing dedication among chefs to play their part in a sustainable food system, GRACE features Chef Vivian Howard, co-founder of Chef & the Farmer in Kinston, North Carolina. Serving local, seasonal, modern cuisine, Vivian works alongside small farmers to showcase regional culinary traditions. Describing farmers as the restaurant’s “better half,” Chef & the Farmer source more than 70 percent of their foodstuff from within a 60 mile radius.
