Dirtier than coal?

The report from RSPB, Friends of the Earth, and Greenpeace criticizes the British government’s plan to subsidize large-scale power generation from wood. The report claims that the government’s greenhouse accounting is faulty, failing to take into consideration carbon debt and indirect substitution emissions, leading the government to severely overestimating climatic benefits stemming from power produced by biomass.
