Land Food People Foundation

Land Food People Foundation

Land Food People Foundation developed standards for local and sustainable products, which were then developed into a “Certified Local Sustainable” certification by Local Food Plus (LFP). This certification is for farmers and processors across Canada and connects them to buyers of all sizes. LFP was developed in 2005 using funding from the Metcalf Foundation in order "to link local sustainable Ontario food producers with several key University of Toronto food services (named the Ontario Eco-Label Project). The LFP's partnership with the University of Toronto created the "biggest local sustainable food contract in North America" and was a great step forward in expanding the movement toward sustainability.
