Attend the Food+City Challenge Prize, Feb. 2, 2016!

Second Annual Food+City Challenge Prize welcomes more than 20 finalist teams to food innovation competition awarding $50K in Austin, Texas. Day-long event is free and open to the public.

An international group of startups focused on food system improvement and innovation will gather in Austin to present their concepts as part of the Food+City Challenge Showcase Day on Feb. 6, 2016. The day-long, public event is the final round for the 20+ finalists who have been working with industry mentors for the past 12 weeks. A panel of judges will decide which top teams receive $50,000 in prize money along with benefits from Food+City partners.

Showcase Day takes place from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the McCombs School of Business on The University of Texas at Austin campus. The event is free and open to the public -- an exciting networking and learning event for anyone interested in global food system innovations. In fact, the public has a role in selecting a winner through People’s Choice voting at Showcase Day. Those who can’t attend in person may vote online via the Food+City Facebook page. Attendees will also enjoy food and drink sampling from local businesses such as Wholy Bagel, Easy Tiger, Little City Coffee, 512 Brewery, mmmpanada’s and Tiff’s Treats; or pose for a “foodie photo” at the Pixter Photo Booth.

The finalists come to Austin from around the U.S. and around the world — from College Station to England, from Maine to Uganda — to share bold ideas for improving the ways that food moves in and out of urban centers. All finalists were paired with industry mentors who guided them for 12 weeks as they strengthened their business plans and developed prototypes.
