Organic Grows Up

Costco now the largest organic grocer

Move over Whole Foods. Costco, which has reported organic sales of over $4 billion last year, has likely eclipsed Whole Foods as the largest realtor of organic foods. Costco’s organic sales have doubled in the past few years, and they are only continuing to grow. And with total organic sales in the U.S. estimated to be around $36 billion annually, that means about one out of every ten dollars in organic sales is made at Costco. This news belays not only the increased demand for organic products, but hints at the promise of strengthened supply chain for organic products.

Organic has certainly grown up. Will it maintain its integrity?
