Today, half the world’s food production—what we eat—depends on chemical fertilizers and herbicides. These are the foundations of modern "Conventional Agriculture," but they pollute our soils, drinking water, waterways, and oceans. However, humans have been practicing agriculture for thousands of years, and the introduction of chemical fertilizers and herbicides is a fairly recent development. There are new stewards of the land - using wisdom gained from thousands of years of agricultural tradition, as well as exciting new methods - unconventional farmers who are working with nature, not against it. These farmers believe in biodiversity instead of monoculture. They build soil fertility without depending on chemicals. They go beyond organic and sustainability, building an agriculture of resillience.
