Where I work
Sara Fulton-Koerbling loves all things food. She is a sociologist and trained personal chef, a market gardener and passionate community organizer. In Little Rock, AR, she works as the Healthy Eating Specialist at Whole Foods Market. Sara also co-directs the Central Arkansas New Agrarian Society a grassroots organization dedicated to strengthening the regional economy and demonstrating sustainable living practices. She served as a FoodCorps Service Member in Yellville, AR where she taught garden-based science education and grew produce for the cafeteria.
The Central Arkansas New Agrarian Society is a coalition that aims to cultivate urban agriculture in central Arkansas by serving as a network of communication and cooperation. CANAS recognizes the fragile nature of the industrial food system and aims to address the needs of vulnerable populations through community farming initiatives. These farms will provide land access to surrounding residents as well as knowledge, tools, and resources that empower residents towards increased self-sufficiency. Ultimately, CANAS desires to instill in the community the beauty and necessity of a closed-loop, local, and democratic food system.
CANAS is also a trustee of Kiva International, we help connect growers and builders to 0% Interest, crowd-sourced, micro-loans of up to 10k through a social lending platform called Kiva.Zip.
