Food News: Urban Fruit Gleaning

Portland Fruit Tree Project

The Fruit Tree Project illustrates the impact on the community of local gleaners and fallen fruit initiatives. Based out of Portland, Oregon; the Fruit Tree Project harvests food that is left over in the urban environment. The goal of the project is to get the food that is going to waste into the hands of the people who need it. This effectively helps people who struggle to harvest all the fruit they grow while bringing the harvested fruit to local pantries for distribution.
